Terms of Service
These terms govern business and professional use of Signal Local, including controlled trials.
Effective 28 August 20261. About Signal
Signal Local ("Signal", "we", "us" or "our") provides SEO audit, evidence, workflow and reporting software for agencies and other business users. These terms form an agreement between Signal and the organisation creating or accepting a workspace ("Customer"), and apply to every person the Customer authorises to use that workspace.
Signal is a business service. You confirm that you are acting for business or professional purposes and have authority to accept these terms for the Customer.
2. Accounts and workspace responsibility
- Provide accurate account and workspace information.
- Keep sign-in methods and multi-factor authentication secure.
- Give each user an appropriate role and remove access promptly when it is no longer needed.
- Tell us promptly if an account, invitation or workspace may have been compromised.
The Customer is responsible for activity performed through its accounts, except to the extent caused by Signal's breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable security measures.
3. Trials, plans and audit capacity
A controlled trial currently lasts 14 days and includes two Standard Audit credits, up to two active client sites and one running audit at a time. No payment card is required. Trial credits expire with the trial and do not have a cash value. An audit that fails before producing a usable result may be refunded automatically under Signal's audit-credit rules.
We may change future trial or plan allowances, but will not retrospectively reduce capacity already granted for a current trial period. Paid subscriptions and any additional commercial terms will be presented separately before a charge is made.
4. Customer data and permissions
The Customer retains ownership of information it submits or connects to Signal. The Customer gives Signal permission to host, process, analyse and transmit that information only as needed to provide, secure, support and improve the service.
The Customer must have the necessary authority to audit each website, use each business record, invite each person and connect each Google or other third-party account. The Customer must not submit unlawful, infringing or unnecessarily sensitive personal information.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use Signal to:
- break the law, infringe another person's rights or misrepresent authority;
- probe, attack, disrupt or bypass security, rate limits, audit limits or access controls;
- access another Customer's workspace or data without permission;
- upload malware or use automated access outside documented product behaviour;
- resell, copy or reverse engineer the service except where the law expressly permits it; or
- use audit output as deceptive evidence or as a guaranteed statement about future search performance.
6. Audit and AI output
Signal combines third-party data, public website evidence, deterministic scoring and AI-assisted analysis. Results are decision-support information, not a guarantee of rankings, traffic, revenue, legal compliance or completeness. Provider availability, website behaviour and connected-data permissions can affect coverage. Customers should apply professional judgement before acting on or sharing a recommendation.
7. Third-party services
Signal depends on hosting, database, email, search-data, analytics and AI providers. Connected services may also be governed by the Customer's agreements with those providers. We are responsible for selecting and managing our service providers with reasonable care, but cannot guarantee an uninterrupted third-party service.
8. Availability, changes and support
We aim to provide a dependable service but do not promise that Signal will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may make security, reliability and product changes, and may suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect users, data or the platform. Contact us promptly if an audit or account needs support.
9. Intellectual property
Signal and its software, interface, branding and underlying product materials remain ours or our licensors'. Subject to these terms, the Customer receives a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Signal during its trial or subscription. Customer data and the Customer's own brands remain the Customer's property.
10. Suspension and termination
A Customer may stop using a trial at any time. We may suspend or end access for a material breach, security risk, unlawful use or expired entitlement. Where reasonable, we will give notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue. Data handling after closure follows the Privacy Notice and any agreed retention or export arrangements.
11. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence. Subject to that, Signal is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue, goodwill or anticipated savings, or for decisions made solely from audit output. Any financial cap and paid service commitments will be stated in the applicable commercial agreement. Trial access is supplied without a separate service-level commitment.
12. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. If a material change applies to an active account, Signal will present the new version for acceptance before continued protected use. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, unless a mandatory law requires otherwise.
